The Islamia Public School Leh has been established in 1930, which was confined to religious teaching only, later, it was upgraded to a primary school in the year 1950. With the passage of time the school introduce modern education and upgraded to English medium middle school level in 1983 and finally, it was upgraded to a high school in 1989, and presently the school has affiliated with CBSE in 2019.

The Islamia Public High School has been established by Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam Leh which is one of the oldest societies in the Ladakh region noted for its noble objectives and valuable contribution to the field of education through its educational institutions and other spheres of social activities. The Society represents the Sunni community of the Leh District but has worked ceaselessly for maintaining communal harmony and fraternal relation among all religions for the last 7 decades. The Islamia Public High school is fully funded by the society Anjuman Moin UL Islam Leh by the income generated through the asset of the Society.

The School has a branch in Thiksay and Turtuk village in Nubra. In the year 2019 the Society has taken over another Private English medium Middle School namely Sacred New Era with the aim to provide better education facilities at a nominal rate with no profit to the poor and needy children of all Society, presently the Sacred New Era has also a branch in Nubra (Hunder).

The management of Islamia Public High School Leh and its branches are governed by the School Management Committee with its own bylaws.

​

The School Management committee comprises of Chairman/General Secretary/Joint Secretary and 12 members representing two (one Male and one Female) members from parents and two members (Teachers) from other schools.

 

The Islamia Public School provides free education and education-related support, both monetary and in the form of material needs such as books, Uniforms and accommodation/costs, etc, for the “ Underprivileged” children, irrespective of caste, creed, race, or religion.
